Stoat Daily is an independent local newspaper covering Millbrook and the river valley. We publish every weekday online and once a week in print, and we have done so, under one name or another, since 1911.
What we cover
The town council, the school board, the county budget, the planning board, high school sports, the businesses on Water Street, and Mill Creek. If it happens inside the Millbrook town line, it is ours to cover. If it happens in Ashford County and it affects Millbrook, it is usually ours too.
We do not cover national politics. There are better outlets for that, and there are not many outlets left for the Millbrook Planning Board.
How we are paid for
- Reader subscriptions, which are the largest single source and the one we would like to grow
- Local display and classified advertising
- A small amount of grant funding for specific reporting projects, always disclosed in the story
We do not accept advertising from anyone we are actively investigating, and advertisers see no story before publication. Ever.
